Apple to launch iPad HD?

Seems like after months of speculation, Apple's well guarded secret is finally out. Buzz is that the much-awaited next generation iPad will be called iPad HD instead of iPad 3. According to a report in CNET, "A developer who's previously provided reliable information with respect to

things Apple and otherwise tells us the next iPad uses the HD moniker instead of going with "iPad 3. Apple has been known to tack simple modifiers onto its product names before, so a name like the iPad HD wouldn't be unprecedented."

The rumours are nothing new, in fact a report appeared as early as in July last year in The Verge claiming the Apple's updated iPad would be launched as iPad HD.

Mashable confirms the latest development, , "The first clues on this trail came last week, when a Gizmodo tipster uncovered evidence that Griffin and Belkin - longtime Apple peripheral makers trusted by the company - had 'iPad HD' cases buried in acres of dry accessory listings like the ark of the covenant in a warehouse of boxes. The site added another, less appealing rumor from an app developer on a Romanian forum that claimed to see an iPad HD show up in the apparently un-spoofable usage stats for his app Tapatalk."

As the 'confirmations' make the rounds, all the 'retina display' rumours suddenly make sense Apple's next iPad will most probably have "high-resolution display running at 2,048 by 1,536 pixels as compared to current iPads which much lower resolution 1,024 by 768 display", Venture Beat reports.
